Marcin Gortat, the Washington Wizards center known as The Polish Hammer, had the game of his life Tuesday, putting up 31 points and 16 rebounds in a season-saving Game 5 win over the Indiana Pacers.
While replaying some of Gortat’s highlights on Inside the NBA, Shaq made multiple references to pierogis, the Polish food staple and probably the only thing many people know about the European country. Then, as a public service to all of us dummies, Shaq explained what a pierogi is.
“That’s sausage for all you dummies like Chuck.”
Barkley knew that wasn’t right.
“Pierogi isn’t a sausage, you fool.”
“Well that’s what you told me earlier.”
“You asked about a kielbasa!”
Okay, if pierogi isn’t a sausage, Shaq wondered, then what is it?
“It’s like a noodle,” Barkley said, which is slightly less-wrong than sausage but still completely wrong.
Thankfully, the Polish Hammer himself was able to weigh in later. (The clip starts a few seconds early, so you can see Gortat delightfully comparing himself to Abe Lincoln.)
